Apple Airport Express is an easy to setup device to create the wifi N600 network or extend the existing wifi network.

What this product does

Airport express is an easy to setup simultaneous dual band wireless router. A built-in setup assistant or Airport utility help you setup the router easily to create an instant wifi network in home to share the internet. Connect either to cable or dsl modem and share the internet into the whole home. Or if you have an existing wifi network, you can add airport express in the wifi range and extend the range to the dead zones.




 

Wireless N600

Airport express is  based on wireless N600 technology to let you create dual band wifi network in home, delivering speeds of up to 300Mbps each band. All the wifi-enabled devices can connect easily to the network including iOS, Android or any Windows phone devices. You can easily manage and monitor your network from the palm of your hand using smartphone.

Range extender

Should you extend the range of your existing Airport extreme, time capsule or express router to the dead zone area, you just place the device in the range of your primary station and the dead zone to cover.

In each generation, Apple always comes with three models of wireless router including Apple Airport  Express; Airport Extreme and Airport Time Capsule. And today, the latest generation of Apple Airport devices are Airport Express N600 router, Airport Extreme AC1750 router and Airport  AC1750 Time capsule.

What is the different between Apple Airport Express and Airport extreme routers?

Airport express is based on wireless N600 technology while the Airport extreme is based on the latest wireless AC1750 technology. Apple airport express

Airport extreme is small and compact as small as Apple TV, however Airport extreme is much bigger with tower form factor.

Speeds

With Archer C5 you can create high speed wireless network simultaneous dual band, up to 800Mbps in 5GHz for wireless AC-based devices and up to 300Mbps for standard wireless N-based devices in 2.4GHz band. Latest generations of Smartphone and Tablet come with wireless AC wifi adapter, so you can take advantage of wireless AC network instead of wireless N network. Latest models of Apple iPad Air and iPhone 6 comes with wifi AC adapter and more other including Samsung Galaxy S6 series.

Interfaces

The inclusion of two USB ports in Archer C5 is beneficial for sharing both disk storage and printer together compared to Airport express which allows you to share only a printer. And the addition of 4x gigabit Ethernet LAN ports let you connect more devices instead of one Fast Ethernet LAN port in express.

See that the Linksys wifi specs are faster than Airport express, and the two USB and five Gigabit Ethernet ports are more advantageous for more devices to connect. The new generation of Apple airport extreme comes with the same wireless ac1750 technology.

Linksys EA6500 is the first wireless AC router flagship offered by Linksys into the market, and more models are available today including high speed EA8350 AC2600  and Linksys EA9200 wireless AC3200. At the same time, Apple still come with wireless AC1750 with its Airport Extreme router, no more models to offer until the next wifi technology perhaps.
