Netgear introduces R6700 router another variance of AC1750 routers in addition of Netgear R6300, and Netgear R6400 wireless AC1750 router. How is it compared with Asus RT-AC66U and Linksys EA7500?




 

Why R6700

As you know that Netgear offers three models of wireless AC1750-based routers including Netgear R6300 router which is the first flagship in AC router introduced by Netgear, the second one is Netgear R6400 router and the last one is Netgear R6700 AC1750 router. High speed processor

What are the differences between the three routers which have the same wireless AC1750-based technology? As shown in the previous comparison table between R6700 and TP-link Archer C9 you can find that the fastest processor is 1GHz dual core embedded in the Netgear R6700 with the addition of 128MB flash and 256MB RAM.

Airtime fairness

Unlike the first AC router introduced by Netgear (R6300), both R6400 and R6700 come with Airtime fairness feature to prevent network lag when both legacy and latest based clients connect to the same network, slower legacy clients won’t make the network lag when connect to the same network.

There are few competitive models available in the market today you may consider to choose. RT-AC66U is one of the first generation of wireless AC router models offered by Asus and is based on wireless AC1750 technology. While the EA7500 is new variant of wireless AC1900 router offered by Linksys in addition of Linksys EA6900 AC1900 router and the open-source firmware Linksys WRT 1900ACS.

Wifi technology

Both R6700 and RT-AC66U are based on the same AC1750 network segment. R6700 features Beamforming+ and Airtime fairness, but Asus doesn’t. Processor

Processor takes the  main role of critical router’s processing tasks including processing the wifi devices in each bands to connect to the internet, wired devices connect to either LAN or USB ports and more other processing tasks. The faster of the processor the faster the processing and the performance of the router. you can find in the following two tables that Linksys EA7500 is embedded by the fastest processor – 1.4GHz dual core processor. Netgear R6700 AC1750 router is one of high performance router with 1GHz dual core processor in middle class router category with Beamforming+ and Airtime Fairness technologies. For better processor performance and faster speed in 2.4GHz band, Linksys EA7500 is your choice. For standard high performance AC1750 router, Asus RT-AC66U is the preference.
