Netgear WAC730 Vs TP-link Vs Linksys Wireless AC Access Point

Netgear introduces three models of business class wireless AC access point including Netgear WAC720; WAC730 and WAC740 wireless AC access point. How do you compare it with TP-link EAP330 wireless AC1900 access point and Linksys LAPAC1750?

WAC730 Access Point

There are three models of business class wireless ac access point introduced by Netgear, they are Netgear WAC720 which is designed with two data streams with AC1200 network segment, WAC730 which is designed with three data streams with AC1750 network segment and WAC740 with four data streams in AC2200 network segment.




 
Each of the model has number of antenna connectors in addition of internal antennas, two, three or four antenna connectors in association with the number of data streams. TP-link EAP series and Linksys LAPAC series do not come with antenna connectors like Netgear WAC series. It’s very rare that ceiling / wall mount AP products come with external antennas like those desktop home model APs such as TP-link AP500 wireless AC AP.

SMB

You may connect the Gigabit Ethernet port to POE switch. All of the three models are designed for businesses, you may start from one single device in a standalone mode and expand up to 10 APs similar devices in ensemble mode,  no software nor controller is required. Ensemble mode is ideal for small to medium businesses up to 10 similar APs. When your businesses expand you require controller or business central cloud modes for larger numbers of APs and across sites.

Dual band

Netgear WAC730 is designed with three data streams 3×3 antenna with Beamforming technology for solid connection to clients wherever they are roaming within the network coverage. It delivers dual band with speeds of up to 1300Mbps @5GHz band and up to 450Mbps @2.4GHz band.

The MSRP for this product is originally very costly compared with competing business class wireless ac access point products in the market today including TP-link, Ubiquiti or EnGenius. You can find the retail price is now dropping significantly up to $200 compared with the original price.

Comparison

Netgear WAC730 is designed for businesses like other competing products including Linksys with its LAPAC series, Ubiquiti with its Unifi series, and TP-link with its EAP series. Take one of TP-link EAP330 series and one Linksys LAPAC1750 series for comparison with Netgear WAC730 series.

Wifi technology

You see that the wifi technology is slightly different with different total bandwidth. All the three products are ready with today’s wireless AC technology feature – the beamforming technology that locks the clients with solid signal for strong connection. Band steering and Airtime fairness

Band steering is a technology that pushes all 5GHz capable clients to connect to 5GHz clean band instead of connecting to 2.4Ghz band. What is Airtime fairness? Generally most access point or wireless router send equal number of frames to each clients whatever the theoretical data rate is. With Airtime fairness, they deliver equal amounts of air time instead of equal frames. Consequently, latest models of clients will download higher speed when slower legacy clients connect to the same AP / router. TP-link EAP330 is ready with Airtime fairness but both WAC730 and Linksys are not.

Link aggregation

TP-link EAP330 comes with two gigabit Ethernet ports with aggregation link you can combine for higher data rate throughput for higher clients density. Netgear WAC730 and Linksys LAPAC1750 come with single Gigabit LAN port for POE connection.
