New TP-link Archer C2600 Router

TP-link offers new MU-MIMO four streams wireless AC2600 router powered by 1.4 GHz dual band processor. How it competes with Linksys and Netgear?

Why TP-link

TP-link offers various models of wireless router, modems, switch, adapters and more like other networking vendors including Netgear, Linksys, D-link and more. And the good thing is that most products are sold with more economical price and yet the performance is comparable with other competing products, even though TP-link frequently releases new products with new technology later than other competing vendor like Netgear and Asus.

For example Netgear Nighthawk X6 that had been already available in the market since Jun 2015, TP-link released Archer C3200 later in Aug 2015. Both products based on the same wireless AC3200 technology. And today, TP-link releases the new Archer C2600 while some competing products with the same wireless AC2600 has been around for a while.

What this product does

Like other similar products such as Linksys EA8500 and new Amped Athena RTA2600 which have the same wireless AC2600-based technology, TP-link offers Archer C2600 which is also based on the same AC2600 technology. It delivers four data streams of up to 1733Mbps in 5GHz band and up to 800Mbps in 2.4GHz band.

Unlike traditional wireless routers which serve client device one at a time, TP-link Archer C2600 serves multiple clients at once with Multi User MIMO technology (MU-MIMO) for faster data processing. The router is powered by the latest 1.4GHz dual core processor for high performance data processing.

Wifi technology

All the three routers are based on four data streams dual band technology, however Netgear R7500 is based on AC2400 while the other two are based on faster AC2600 technology. All the three routers come with Beamforming technology for solid connection to wifi clients while roaming within the house.

The Multi User MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology is a powerful feature which serves data to multiple clients simultaneously compared to traditional wireless routers which delivers data one at a time to each of clients. TP-link Archer C2600 and Linksys EA8500 feature MU-MIMO technology but Netgear Nighthawk X4 doesn’t.

USB Ports

if you expect the router with a variety of sharing ports, the Netgear X4 is more profitable because there are available 2x USB 3.0 ports and one e-SATA port, Linksys still have a combo e-SATA or USB 2.0 while Archer C2600 doesn’t not provide e-SATA port.

All other features look the same, featuring the same 1.4GHz dual core processor and Gigabit interfaces for both LAN and WAN ports. We notice that mostly all high performance wireless routers today come with Gigabit WAN port, ideal for connecting to high speed DOCSIS 3 cable modem such as new Netgear CM600 cable modem, or the gigabit internet speed of new Surfboard SB6190 cable modem with 32×8 channel bonding.
