TP-link AC5400 Vs D-link Vs Linksys

TP-link AC5400 Archer C5400 is a new TP-link’s flagship in three band router category in addition of TP-link AC3200 three band router. How this product compete with D-link AC5300 DIR-895 router and new Linksys AC5400 router?

Comparison between Archer C5400 and Asus RT-AC5300 and Netgear AC5400 has been discussed in the other article, see this TP-link Vs Asus Vs Netgear AC5400 router article as reference. Why TP-link? TP-link offers competitive products compared with other networking vendor, the new flagship is TP-link Archer C5400.

What this product does

The model of the body is designed similarly with the AC3200 version – TP-link Archer C3200, a flat square with eight foldable antennas in its four sides. You can fold the antennas inward when you pack it into the box. Different direction the way you fold the antennas with Asus RT-AC5300 router which design is nice and looks like a crap.

It’s like the other AC5300 routers, TP-link AC5400 router delivers three band wifi network with total bandwidth of up to 5400Mbps. Two separate 5GHz bands for wireless AC connection speeds up to 2167Mbps and single 2.4GHz band for wireless N connection speeds up to 1000Mbps.

Most high performance features like Beamforming, MU-MIMO, 4 data streams and Smart-Connect are also supported like other competing products from D-link AC5300 and Linksys AC5400 routers.

Main features

  • 5th G wifi standard of 802.11AC with three band technology
  • Engineered with 4-data stream technology and advanced NitroQAM technology to boost the speeds

To help you decide which product is best to meet your need, have a look at the following two spec comparison tables. Table 1 is spec comparison between TP-link AC5400 router and the red hood D-link AC5300 and table 2 is spec comparison between TP-link AC5400 and Linksys AC5400 router.

Firmware

D-link AC5300 is different than the other regarding the OS platform of the firmware. D-link 895 supports DD-WRT open source firmware which is Linux-based for those developers guys that love customized products to meet their need. It’s like Linksys with its Linksys WRT1900ACS and previous version of Linksys WRT 1900 AC, both are Linux-based firmware.

Processor

All the three products are powered by the same powerful dual core 1.4GHz processor, similar processor embedded to new Linksys AC1900 router (EA7500). However, it’s not the fastest processor powered to the high end routers. You know that Linksys WRT1900ACs is powered by 1.6GHz dual core processor, and the higher speed 1.7GHz dual core processor is powered to new Netgear Nighthawk X4S AC2600.

Interfaces

TP-link AC5400, D-link and Linksys AC5400 come with the same two USB ports consist of 1x USB 2.0 port and super speed 1x USB 3.0 port. however, the number of Gigabit Ethernet ports are different. TP-link and D-link come with 4x LAN ports like other routers in general, while Linksys AC5400 is not usual comes with more LAN ports, 8x Gigabit LAN ports.

Linksys with more ports should have engineered the ports to support link aggregation (aka network teaming) like Asus RT-AC5300 router and also Netgear AC5300 supports network teaming too.

Take a look at the following two table to help you understand the spec differences (if any) so you can consider which one is suitable to meet your need.
