TP-link offers various models of wireless AC router ranging from AC750 up to AC5300, and the latest one is the next generation of wireless AD technology – the Talon AD7200 multi band router. In the middle tier, TP-link offers Archer AC3150.
What this product does
The design of the body is similar and almost the same as the TP-link AC2600 – Archer C2600. There must be something similar between Archer C3150 and Archer C2600 besides the body style. Yes, both models are designed to support MU-MIMO, Beamforming and 4-stream wifi technology, features that mostly applied to high performance wireless AC routers such as Nighthawk X4S AC2600 router by Netgear and still more routers from different vendors.
Archer C3150 is designed based on 4-stream and NitroQAM technology delivering total bandwidth of up to 3150Mbps. With this technology, the wifi is boosted up to 2167Mbps in 5GHz band and in 2.4GHz band the wifi is boosted up to 1000Mbps. Moreover, the Smart connect and beamforming technology allow the router to assign clients the best available band automatically and connects solidly to the network while roaming within homes.

Beamforming & MU-MIMO
Both routers are naturally designed with the same Quad-Stream technology with each of stream using high performance antennas and are MU-MIMO ready for sending beam of data to the clients simultaneously. Standard non MU-MIMO router sends data one device to another device, but in MU-MIMO routers sends data in one go to multiple wifi clients. Thus faster speeds to each of the clients when they run high intensive bandwidth applications simultaneously such as video streaming and online gaming.
The constraint is are you having clients with Beamforming and MU-MIMO ready? D-link DWA-192 is ready with Beamforming technology, but not ready with MU-MIMO.
Smart connect technology connects the clients to the best available band automatically. The slower devices won’t compete with the speedy devices. Archer C3150 supports this feature but Nighthawk X4s doesn’t.
